Habitat: Waste places.
Seasons: July - October.
Uses: Root tea as a blood purifier, diuretic, stimulates bile secretion, digestion, and sweating. Also used for gout liver and kidney ailments, rheumatism, and gonorrhea. Externally used as a wash for hives and skin eruptions. Seeds used for sore throats, insect bites, snakebites, flu, and constipation. Crushed seeds poulticed on bruises. Leaves poulticed on burns, ulcers, and sores.
Preparation: Poultice, tea, and wash.
Active Chemical Ingredient: Inulin.
